Famous Chess Game: Kasparov vs Topalov 1999 (Kasparov’s Immortal)

November 15, 2015 - Chess

In what is arguably the greatest chess match ever played, Kasparov shows why he is considered to be the best chess player of all time in his “Immortal” game. There are so many amazing moves I lost count. Hopefully you learn as much from the game as I did studying it.

Everyone loves an aggressive chess opening so I thought I would create a list of my top 7 aggressive openings. Enjoy.

Dude, "analyze", the way you pronounce it, means something completely different lol

can someone please explain this to me. Why didn't he move the bischop (C8) to G4? it would have forced the queen to kill it or be killed. But doing that black would have killer her with the Knight that was standing at (F6). Taking out the Queen would have been a great advantage.

Just too complicated for my brain.

at 20:07, why did Topalov not take Pawn at D5 with his bishop? Would have had the same effect as the queen but kept the pressure on the rook at E7?

I had to switch to 2x speed, because it would be boring and I'm from Czech Republic! Very well played, commentary very good, I enjoyed it. :)

at 15:16. what if blacks would send his tower from d8 to d6?, blocking the queens move, and making sure his queen would capture his if he made the move anyway.. For the record. Im a beginner player. Not very into the tactics. any comments on this move?

the swedish meatball gambit looks just like the blue oyster cult attack, i think you need a refresher course

I stood against the fried liver only once, when I played 1… e5 by accident. The opening turned into a real craziness. My opponent sacked a piece for an initiative that lasted for the whole game. I took two pawns in the process and I had a winning position, but made a mistake of taking the third pawn and my opponent escaped with a draw due to my weakened King.
